We would like to extend our apologies to all supporters and fans of the sportulstudentesc.com web page for the down time you might have experienced over the past week. Our new hosts, z555.com and hostony.com, were upgrading their servers during the past week, and due to some human error, all content was lost. After a week of constant pressure from fevaNET, they were able to restore the content from a backup dated January 19, 2005. Unfortunately, this means that data submitted between January 19, 2005 and February 2, 2005 was lost. We are sorry for the inconvenience and hope this kind of issue will not arise in the future. Furthermore, after the events of the past week, we would like to clarify that we do not support or recommend z555.com or hostony.com hosting services.

    Thank you,

    fevaNET

Duce Coe, Gica Popescu I, Aurica Radulescu, etc…

un modul de sondaje de opinie

    Prezentarea jucatorilor cu poze :)

So far the plan is to have all the above. We’ll see if we get to all of them though. Thanks

If we are only interested in razing the US$ 200/year to sponsor the web page, then we don’t have to go through any extra trouble to register any company. Only if we traffic more than CDN$ 30,000/year are we obliged to do so. Selling of merchandise is also possible with no registration, also as long as the net profit is under CDN$ 30,000. Since I doubt we’ll reach that sum in any given year, it’s safe to say that we’re definitely not required to register anything, especially considering that the registration process costs CDN$ 1,500.
As for the supporters contributing to the cost of the site, it is much appreciated, but from our point of view, it would be much simpler for a company or two to send US$ 200 once a year, than to have to collect $5 here and there, although that would eliminate the banners. Another point is, I don’t know about Caz, but I would prefer if supporters did not have to contribute… you guys are fans, this web page is for you, therefore you shouldn’t have to pay for it.
We’ll see what we can work out, and we’ll keep everyone posted. What is for certain is that we’re going to make this site the envy of all other sites

I’m not sure what the rules are in Romania, we are deffinetly allowed to sell merchandise here, and if we sell it here and you guys just ship it, I’m not sure if that’s actually going against any laws of export/import… perhaps though.

I’m not sure, it seems we’ve exceeded the bandwith again… and in only a few days so I think it the flash movies… which aren’t even on that server, I don’t understand.
In any case, move it to UTSCs server for now, and I’ll fix the flash movies.

Yes, we will be paying the server on a yearly service, but I quoted what it would come out per month. It would be a great idea to have merchandise for sale. It’s difficult to acquire the jerseys or other memorabilia here, but we could take orders and have you guys ship them out, stuff like that would be great.

We are looking to spend at most US$ 20/month. It is not much, but the idea was that if we can somehow generate the US$ 20/month from a single banner ad, then it’s even better.
It is irrelevant if the page is sponsored by companies or by individuals. In either case we will give credit to those who help make this web page great.

As we attempt to switch servers, it has become obvious that more space and more bandwidth will definitely cost more money. As this site is non-official, all funds so far have been inquired by the hobbyists, whom we owe gratitude to. There are companies that will pay for ads posted on the webpage to relive some of the cost, however, since most such companies will only pay for US related sites, we don’t qualify.
How feasible is it to find perhaps Romanian companies to sponsor this web page. We were thinking to include a 468X60 banner ad in the design (non pop-up) to raise as little as US$ 10 – 20 per month. It’s simple, if we only find one sponsor; their ad will remain on the page 100% of the time and would cost them the full US$10 – 20 per month. If there were say 10 sponsors, the ads will rotate at a frequency of 30 seconds thus giving them an equal exposure of 10% of the time and it would cost them only US$1 – 2 per month. So the question is, would anyone be interested in sponsoring the page, do any of you know if that’s even feasible or if you know any companies interested? Let us know.

We are focusing a lot on pictures, which is good, especially where to find there pictures. I think it’s a good idea that rather than having just a big photo gallery, photos can be found on relative pages. For instance, if you are looking at the player list, it would be nice to have pictures of the players right there; if you are looking at last games result, why not have pictures from the game there… and so on. What I can do is put all such pictures in one directory, and then write a script that loads all of them into a photo gallery page, as well as it loads say the pictures of players in the players section, and pictures from games in specific game pages. It’s definitely something to include.
And btw, the paparazzi version looks pretty good… but we’ll try to make the real version even better. Don’t worry, we’ll keep you up to date with any implementation.

Depending on server capacity we might keep some of the images in full 3.1Mpix in case some viewers would like to download and print them. In any case however, since the focus of the new design is efficiency, once the pictures are uploaded, a script will generate a 150k “full screen” picture and a 5k “thumbnail”, and immediately upload it to the site. This way, viewers only need to download the full screen pictures of their choice. Finally, at a later date, when the webmaster gets the chance he can review the pictures and decide weather a high resolution version should be kept, which will then also be available through a link.
As for the stats of members, I will put together a script that can calculate what you’ve suggested so far and anything else you can come up with. At this point it would take the webmaster hours to create statistical web pages, however once the script is compiled, it can generate statistics on the fly.
Thanks again for all the suggestion, and keep them coming.
